Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)

The Indian Institutes of Technology, IITs are a group of autonomous engineering andtechnology-oriented institutes of higher education. The IITs are governed by the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961 which has declared them as “institutions of national importance”, and lays down their powers, duties, framework for governance etc.

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)

The Indian Institutes of Technology (popularly known as IITs) are institutions of national importance established through an Act of Parliament for fostering excellence in education. There are fifteen IITs at present, located in Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Mandi, Mumbai, Patna, Ropar and Roorkee. Over the years IITs have created world class educational platforms dynamically sustained through internationally recognized research based on excellent infrastructural facilities. The faculty and alumni of IITs continue making huge impact in all sectors of society, both in India and abroad. Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IT-BHU), Varanasi and Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad, are amongst the oldest institutions in India and are known for their immense contributions towards society at large and for science and technology in particular.

Joint Admission Test to M. Sc. (JAM)

From the Academic Session 2004 - 05, Indian Institutes of Technology have started conducting a Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM). The objective of JAM is to provide admissions to various M.Sc., Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree and other post-bachelor degree programmes at the IITs based on the performance in a single test and to consolidate Science as a career option for bright students from across the country. In due course, JAM is also expected to become a benchmark for normalizing undergraduate level science education in the country.
The M.Sc., Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D, M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree and other post-bachelor degree programmes at the IITs offer high quality education in their respective disciplines, comparable to the best in the world.

Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED)

CEED ( Common Entrance Examination for Design ) is an All India Examination conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay ( IIT, Bombay ), on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Department of Education, Government of India. The CEED Examination Tests the candidates for Visual Perception Ability, Drawing Skills, Design Aptitude and Communication Skills. CEED is a qualifying examination for admission to Post Graduate M.Des. Programs at the Industrial Design Centre, IIT Bombay; IDDC, IIT Delhi; CPMD, IISc Bangalore; Design Program, IIT Kanpur.




Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)

Organized by the seven IITs and IISc., GATE or Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is an all Indian examination for pursuing post graduate courses in well known engineering institutes. The GATE committee comprising representatives from the administering colleges are responsible for organizing the examination as well as announcing the results. GATE is conducted by the eight zones namely:
