Nabadwip

Navadwip is a famous temple town with about 185 temples in and around. It is a place where all beliefs, Shaiva, Vaishnava and Buddhist converge and exist in harmony.

The nine islands stand for the nine processes of devotional service. The islands are Antardwipa (Mayapur) for surrendering everything, Simantadwipa for patient hearing, Godrumadvipa for chanting, Madhyadwipa for perfect remembering, Koladwipa for serving the lotus feet, Ritudwipa for ideal worshipping, Jahnudwipa for praying unconditionally, Modadrumadwipa for serving as a servant and Rudradwipa for being a friend.

The most impressive religious and tourist attraction in Navadwipa is the Sonargouranga, the temple dedicated to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu enshrining a golden statue of Sri Chaitanya. The center location of the Navadwipa islands is known as Yogapitha. It is the holy place where Lord Chaitanya took birth in the Earth. The entire Navadwipa region is an aesthetic and spiritual location and it is believed that Sri Gauranga performed the transcendental activities at this place.

Hiring a rickshaw and roaming around the town can be a lovely way to savour the real taste of Nabadwip.
