Bardhaman

The district of Bardhaman also known as Burdwan is predominantly agricultural in its eastern part and highly industrialised in the west. It is called "rice plate" of Bengal for its abundant agri-fields and huge production of rice. In tourism scenario, the district of Burdwan in the state of West Bengal has great potential.

The town of Bardhaman is located in the Indian state of West Bengal. This town is a well-known tourist destination that also serves as the headquarters of a district of the same name. Also called as Burdwan, this town is steeped in heritage and has a history that extends back to the sixth century BC. Vardhamana Mahavira, tha Jain leader, spent a good amount of time in this city, and hence the city sports his name. There are many temples and sites of religious interest in Bardhaman that are of tourist value.

A huge palace is also located at a distance of around one kilometre from Curzon Gate, and this is a location that you must visit in Bardhaman. Golapbag, which has a vast rose garden, is another popular tourist spot in the place.
You can also enjoy tasting Sitabhog and Mihidana, two famous sweets of Burdwan, introduced first in honour of the Raj family.
